Built to be driven with a remote, from across the room
A television is not a phone held at arm's length. UNISON's Android TV experience is designed around a directional pad, a two-metre viewing distance and the reality that a lot of TV boxes are not fast hardware. Bring your own compatible IPTV or Xtream service. UNISON is the player, never the supplier.
-
Remote-first navigation
D-pad focus that is always visible, predictable movement between rows, and no interaction that assumes a touchscreen.
-
A guide for the big screen
The EPG grid is laid out for a television viewing distance, with legible type and playback straight from the guide.
-
Favourites at the front
The channels you watch every evening sit where you can reach them in a couple of presses.
-
Modest hardware in mind
Many TV boxes are not fast. UNISON is designed to prioritise smooth playback on the hardware you actually have.
What makes a television IPTV player different
Most of the work in a TV build is invisible when it is done well. Focus has to be obvious at all times. If you cannot tell which item is selected from the sofa, the app is unusable regardless of how it looks in a screenshot. Movement has to be predictable, so pressing down twice lands where you expected. And every screen has to be reachable without a keyboard, because there isn't one.
The guide is the home screen for a lot of people
On a television, many viewers navigate by the programme guide rather than by a menu. Where your service provides EPG data, UNISON renders it as a proper grid, channels down and time across, and lets you start playback directly from it.
Performance on inexpensive boxes
A £30 Android box and a current flagship television are not comparable machines. UNISON is designed to prioritise smooth playback across different Android devices rather than always reaching for the highest resolution the stream offers. What you ultimately get still depends on the box, your network and the stream your provider sends, so try it on your own hardware during the 72-hour trial before you buy.
Setting up on Android TV
- Install UNISON from Google Play on your Android TV or TV box.
- Sign in with your UNISON account, the same one you use on your phone or tablet.
- If this is your first device, add your own Xtream-style service details; if not, your setup is already there.
- Start the 72-hour trial and check playback and navigation on the television itself.
- Unlock lifetime access for £9.99 once. It covers your supported devices.
One account, phone to television
Setting up an IPTV service on a TV remote is nobody's idea of an evening. UNISON's account model means you can do the fiddly part on your Android phone or tablet and simply sign in on the television. See all supported devices for the full list.
Android TV questions
-
Does UNISON run on Android TV boxes as well as built-in Android TV?
Yes. Android TV televisions and standalone Android TV boxes are both in scope. Performance varies with the box, which is what the 72-hour trial is for.
-
Do I buy UNISON again for my television?
No. £9.99 is a one-time purchase and your UNISON account covers your supported devices, so your phone, tablet and television are not separate purchases.
-
Does UNISON come with channels for my TV?
No. UNISON never includes channels, movies, series or playlists. You connect the compatible IPTV or Xtream service you already pay for, and UNISON displays it.
-
Will it work with my remote?
UNISON is built for standard Android TV remote navigation: directional pad, select, back. Unusual third-party remotes that emulate a mouse may behave differently.
-
Is Fire TV supported?
Not as a supported target today. We list Android phones, tablets, foldables, Android TV and Android TV boxes, and we would rather not claim a platform we have not shipped support for.
